The holy grail of fashion weeks and by far my favorite this year. I know I am a bit late but for Paris Fashion Week I would like to utter the entirely overused phrase, "better late than never."
Acne Studios
Acne Studios shows off their version of the latest trend, oversized suits. Oversized suits give a sense of sex appeal with an element of elegance. But unless you are the Olsen twins I would say it is more safe to play one piece of the combo as oversized rather than both.
LOVE the mixing of prints with a simple boxed bag and a skinny belt. The mixing of prints have always been my favorite. It is definitely very scary at first. I didn't think anybody would get it since we have always been taught our entire lives that prints should always be paired with solids. If you are going to start mixing prints I think it's best to start with simple patterns as the ones shown. That way you can get a feel of what you feel comfortable wearing and you will be able to more easily take risks with more bold prints in the future. Secondly, the bag. This is the IT bag of the season, and well of course next season. But not all of us can afford exotic skins. I personally might love this bag more if it had plain leather material but replicas of the skins are also easy to find. Aldo is especially known for their trendy designer inspired bags. Third, it's time to toss out your chunky belts that we had been using to accentuate our high waistlines. Skinny belts are back! Wear them with pants or even wear them high waisted skirts. This trend is the epitome of 'less is more.'
I just cannot get enough of high wasted shorts. A lot of men beg to differ but I believe it makes such a fashion staple. Pairing high waisted shorts with a cut out top is perfect for a night out. Or pair it with a flowy long sleeve chiffon blouse to go for the trendy sunday brunch look.
DYING. A simple yet very intricately cut leather suit. This season really is all about less being more. Although these leather suits look very basic if you pay attention to the detail and the way the leather is sewn together you see there is much more than meets the eye.
Alexis Mabille
Rompers are still in! I have always been a fan of navy and black paired together. I think it brings a sort of elegance to an outfit. Like, it is color, but subtle color. If she would have just had a dark plum lipstick, as Diva from Mac Cosmetics, I believe her look would have been complete for a night out.
Barbara Bui
Who doesn't love a comfortable pant? A slouch pant is conveniently in right now. It is a step up from the casual boyfriend jean yet still looks sophisticated and professional. And let us just talk about this top. The way it broadens the shoulders beautifully on the model is pure art.
An again with the oversized suit but this time with cut outs. The cutout trend is blowing up right now and what is better than tackling two trends in one outfit? Barbara Bui captures the essence perfectly.
Christian Dior
Dior has always been known for it's chic and girly yet sophisticated elegance. I love how Raf Simons, creative director of Christian Dior, has brought the modern edge into the mix. The pink detail and her to die for stilettos say 'I am a fragile woman' yet her necklace and handbag say 'but don't mess with me.'
Christine Phung
One pieces are so in! I am not quite sure how comfortable I feel about wearing somewhat of a leotard out but her legs are elongated due to the leotard and the nude belt paired with the white make the outfit look totally fresh.
Oversized shorts paired with a boxy top illustrate perfection. It elongates your legs without making it seem as if you have a disproportioned torso, as her torso is also elongated due to the looseness of the top.
Praising the two piece together with cut outs. This chic Christine Phung outfit gives a girly look with the loose skirt yet still sexy with a peek at her midriff. I am also loving the oversized top. We see too many girls, especially in the Houston club scene, trying to pull off this two piece trend with a skin tight crop top and a skin type bandage skirt. This loose look gives a sense of sexiness without trying too hard.
Elie Saab
One of the most stunning shows all week. All women love their skimpy tight dresses but this blue dress with shapes, chiffon, velvet, and lace is a nightlife showstopper. Each fabric is placed ever so carefully that it is not overpowering to the eye. The pop of color with the plum shoes is beyond!
TREND ALERT: The hottest new trend in the fashion world are capes. I would love to hear some feedback on capes. Are we loving it or hating it? I personally love it! It's something new and fresh that has not been so elegantly done like, ever.
All fashionistas love their black and white but Elie Saab brought mixed patterns and colors into the mix that every fashionista I'm sure will be raving about. From stripes to the colorful patterns and hi-low dresses to show off a woman's amazing legs Elie Saab has created a masterpiece for Spring and Summer 2015 parties.
Hermes
Although Hermes is best known for their handbags, they also bring us to this stunning draped top paired with the ever so comfortable slouched pant discussed under Barbara Bui. Not only are the drapes comfortable but they give the drowning look of the Olsen twins that I absolutely adore.
Lanvin
A low cut oversized suit jacket not only brings sex appeal but it is just enough to keep the men guessing when paired with a slouch pant.
Maxime Simoens
Color is the new black.
Loving the long silhouettes by her sides. I actually bought a dress like this a couple years back and got all eyes as the design is very unique. I have not seen it until now. Maybe my next post will be on this dress and some affordable alternatives.
Givenchy
Givenchy is always killing it with leathers and close detail in their embroideries. They are so carefully and tastefully done that the edginess that is brought to the designs with these details is considered pure art. I love how Givenchy puts so many trends, such as capes, thigh-high boots, lace up boots, leather, and embroidery, all in one and the end product possesses zero sense of tackiness.
Balmain
The holy grail of New York Fashion Week and now Paris Fashion Week. Olivier Rousteing possesses an immense amount of talent. The simplicity of his clothing does so much more to accentuate all the right places of a woman's body. From the woman that we all love to call unrealistic on the runway to a woman with more shape as Kim Kardashian, Olivier is a designer with incredible skill.
